Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 24, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how PiBrief (“PiBrief,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and applications (the “Service”). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal data more generally.
We keep this deliberately small. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run cross-site tracking, and we do not sell or share personal information with data brokers.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a site. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage, and pixels — work the same way and are covered by this Policy. First-party cookies are set by PiBrief; third-party cookies are set by a provider we use to deliver part of the Service, such as our authentication or payment provider.
2. The categories we use
2.1 Strictly necessary (always active)
These are required for the Service to function: signing in and staying signed in, completing a payment, protecting against fraud and abuse, and remembering the cookie choice you make on this page. They cannot be switched off, because without them the Service does not work. Under the ePrivacy rules, these do not require consent.
2.2 Analytics (optional, off until you accept)
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which parts of the site are used. It is privacy-friendly by design: it does not use cookies to identify you, does not build a cross-site profile, and does not fingerprint your device. We additionally strip personal values — such as an email address in a link — out of page URLs before they are measured.
The analytics script is not loaded at all until you accept analytics cookies. If you decline, nothing is requested and nothing is measured.
3. Cookies we set
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| pb_cookie_consent | PiBrief (first party) | Stores your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every page, and so we can prove what you consented to. | 6 months |
| __session, __client_uat and related | Clerk (authentication) | Keeps you signed in, protects against session hijacking and cross-site request forgery. | Session to 1 year |
| __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Stripe (payments) | Set on checkout and billing pages for fraud prevention and to complete a payment. | 30 minutes to 1 year |
Third-party cookie names and lifetimes are set by those providers and can change without notice from us. Vercel Web Analytics is not listed above because it does not set cookies.
4. Your choices
When you first visit, we show a banner with equal “Accept all” and “Reject all” options. Nothing optional runs until you choose. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time:
Withdrawing consent stops analytics collection immediately and clears analytics data already stored in your browser. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in or subscribing.
We honour the Global Privacy Control and “Do Not Track” to the extent that declining leaves analytics off permanently for that browser.
5. How long consent lasts
Your choice is stored for six months, after which we will ask again. We will also ask again if we add a new cookie category, so consent is never carried over to something you did not agree to.
6. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as the Service changes. When we do, we revise the “Last updated” date above, and if the change is material — for example a new category of cookie — we will ask for your consent again.
